Our Planet
A Health System That Respects the Planet by Design
How SoZo Is Different
AI Is a Toolbox, Not Just a Chatbot. When you hear "AI," you probably think of chatbots like ChatGPT. But AI is a broad toolbox with many different types of tools. Some, like the AI in your map app, are lightweight and efficient, helping you find the fastest route. Others, like the AI that detects anomalies in X-rays invisible to the human eye, or algorithms that personalize health insights based on your unique data, are focused and life-enhancing.
SoZo uses AI for a select set of capabilities. It is not a general-purpose AI system. Instead it uses specific, efficient AI tools with traditional software for distinct tasks: efficient language AI to answer your questions and offer support; models that understand the meaning of your health data to turn your words into insights; and adaptive systems that learn what works for your unique lifestyle to tailor guidance over time. We don’t need an energy-intensive supercomputer to support your health; we just need the right mix of AI tools and software working together in a fully private space.
Private, ethical and yours. Only you (and your device) hold the keys to your data. The SoZo server stores your data as scrambled, unreadable data (encrypted blobs). Only your phone or computer can decrypt and view your content.
No training on your data. Unlike other services that use your data and conversations to improve their global AI, SoZo never uses your data to train models. Your conversations stay private by design.
No Engagement Optimization: We do not use algorithms to optimize engagement or keep you scrolling. Our goal is to support you in achieving your health agency and goals, not to make you dependent on SoZo.
Our business model does not depend on monetizing your attention or selling your data.
SoZo is hosted in standard data centers. The same kind of infrastructure that powers the apps you already use every day, like Instagram or Netflix. From an energy and water perspective, running SoZo is comparable to running any other efficient mobile apps, as it does not require massive, energy-draining data centers.
Furthermore, SoZo is hosted in EU-based data centers. This means your data is protected by GDPR, one of the strictest privacy laws in the world. Unlike many US-based tech giants, your data stays within a legal framework that prioritizes your rights and privacy by design.
SoZo is not a “Big Tech” AI. When you think of "Big Tech AI," you probably think of the big models like GPT or Claude. Those are massive, general-purpose systems that learn from the entire internet. They are energy-hungry, water-intensive, and often not private.
SoZo is not that. It is built like the apps you already use every day, but with a critical difference: It is a specialized tool designed for one specific purpose - your health and wellbeing. Unlike GPT, which processes billions of irrelevant data points, SoZo only processes what is relevant to you. This makes it lightweight, fast, and efficient.
The Problem: The Hidden Energy Cost and Water Usage of General‑Purpose AI
Most popular AI systems (like GPT or Claude) are built on general-purpose foundational models trained on the entire public internet.
Why this is inefficient: These models must process billions of parameters trained on vast amounts of unrelated data (news, code, social media, etc.). This makes them enormous and energy-intensive to run. The amount of water used to cool these massive data centers is impacting our water resources on a global level.
The Environmental Impact: The data centers housing these models consume massive amounts of electricity and water for cooling. This strain on global water resources is a growing crisis.
The result: Every time you ask a simple question, a massive amount of computing power is used to activate this huge, general-purpose model. This creates a significant carbon and water footprint for every interaction, regardless of how simple the question is.
The SoZo Solution: Focused, Efficient, and Independent
SoZo is fundamentally different. It is not a "generalist" trying to know everything. It is a specialist designed for one purpose: whole-person health and wellbeing.
1. Built from scratch on relevant data, not the whole internet
SoZo was developed from scratch, using datasets focused on whole‑person health and wellbeing.
Why this saves energy and water usage: Because the model does not have irrelevant internet noise, it is smaller and more efficient. It requires significantly less computational power (and thus less electricity and cooling water) to understand and respond to your questions.
2. No calls to third party system including AI systems
SoZo does not route your conversations through third-party AI providers (like OpenAI or Anthropic models) to receive responses. In fact, it is a closed system that doesn’t have access to the internet. Instead, it calls its own model for responses, which runs on our own dedicated, optimized infrastructure.
Why this saves energy and water usage: We avoid the energy waste of activating huge, general-purpose models for every query. By using our own focused, specialist model, that is not connected to live web, we eliminate the massive computational overhead associated with external, internet-wide AI systems. Your question is processed efficiently, within the SoZo AI system.
3. No Data Harvesting, and No Retraining Waste
Unlike most large AI models, SoZo does not use your personal conversations to train or update our models.
Why this matters: Mainstream AIs spend enormous energy continuously retraining their models on user data. Because SoZo respects your privacy and does not harvest data, we avoid this recurring, massive energy cost. Your privacy is protected, while reducing the waste of unnecessary data processing.
4. A Shared Network
SoZo runs on a shared global network. Instead of relying on a few large, energy-intensive data centers, our system distributes trust and verification across a global community of users and validators. Think of it like a community garden vs. a giant industrial farm. The community garden is more resilient, uses fewer resources, and belongs to everyone.
Why this is friendlier to the planet: By distributing the work across many smaller nodes, we reduce the need for massive, energy-draining central infrastructure. We don’t need to build ever-larger data centers to handle growth. As our community grows, the network becomes stronger and more efficient, not more wasteful.
Why this prioritizes people: It means no single company has total control over your data or the system. It is built to be resilient, fair, and owned by the community.
Our Promise
We do not deplete the planet to create a space for your well-being, because we understand that the two are not separate. SoZo’s design proves that utilizing AI can be:
Focused - built on relevant data, not the entire internet.
Private - data owned by the user.
Efficient - no energy‑wasting calls to external, general‑purpose AI models.
Sustainable - a shared network that respects natural resources.
